OSLO, November 2 (Itar-Tass) -- Russia is concerned over Japan's
continued demarches over the Kuriles, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei
Lavrov said on Tuesday.
"Japan's ongoing escalation of emotions over Russian President Dmitry
Medvedev's visit to the Kunashir Island causes concerns," he noted.
"I stated repeatedly that such demarches and protests from Tokyo are
unacceptable. We confirm this position," Lavrov underlined.
Commenting on the decision taken by the Japanese Foreign Ministry to
recall for consultations the ambassador from Russia, Lavrov noted that
"the Japanese ambassador certainly works on the pubic service and receives
instructions from Tokyo over what he should do and where to go." "Thus,
this is their domestic affair," the minister remarked.
He also emphasized that Russia does not plan to recall the Russian
ambassador from Tokyo. "The Russian Foreign Ministry does not plan any
foreign visits for our ambassador in Japan," Lavrov said in reply to a
question about Russia's reaction to Japan's decision to recall for
consultations the Japanese ambassador in Moscow.
