GERMANY'S DEFENSE MINISTER TO VISIT

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ A visit of Mr. Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg, a Minister of Defense of the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG), will begin Wednesday at invitation of his counterpart L.Bold MP.
Since the establishment of the military-diplomatic relations, the Mongolia-Germany cooperation in the defense sector has been intensively developing recent years, for example, the Mongolian and German troops are serving together in the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan. For the time being, Mongolia has sent there its third contingent.
Mr. Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg was born in 1971 in Munich. He lives with his wife and two children. After graduating a secondary school, he served military service at the Gebirgsjдgerbrigade 23 in Mittenwald and left the Army as a Reserve Sergeant. Then he studied political sciences and law at the University of Bayreuth, and in 2007 earned a doctorate in law.
In 2002-2009, Mr. Guttenberg worked in the Bundestag as a head of Germany-England group. In 2002, he was elected member of the Bundestag, and took the office of Defense Minister in October of 2009.
