Iran-Brazil ties to continue with election of Rousseff
Following the election of Dilma Rousseff as Bazil's new president, Tehran-Brazilia friendly ties will continue.
Rousseff, a candidate of Social Democrat Party, won Brazil's presidential election as Latin America's first female president.
Rousseff who promised to continue Lula da Silva's policies during her electoral campaign, won 56 percent of the total ballots cast.
Since she was a candidate enjoying da Silva's support, she is expected to continue her predecessor's domestic and foreign policies.
Da Silva, Brazil's president, is considered one of Tehran's close allies and friends and Brasilia forged cordial ties with Tehran during his presidential term.
Brazilians who were satisfied with their president's policies in all fields, showed their satisfaction with the continuation of his policies by electing Sousseff. Tehran-Brasilia close ties will go ahead as before.
Dilma Vana Rousseff is an economist, politician and president-elect of Brazil. She was appointed as the chief of Energy and Mines Organization by President Lula da Silva in June 2002 to become the first woman to assume the position.
The daughter of a Bulgarian immigrant and a schoolteacher, Rousseff was raised in an upper middle class household in Belo Horizonte.
She has pledged to proceed with da Silva's policies. During his presidency for eight years, da Silva managed to bring economic and financial stability to his country and save 29 million people from poverty.
