China hopes Russia, Japan to settle territorial dispute in talks
BEIJING, November 2 (Itar-Tass) -- China hopes that Russia and Japan
will settle their territorial dispute through friendly negotiations,
spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry Hong Lei told a press briefing here on Tuesday in comments on China's position over Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's visit to the South Kuriles.
"The dispute over four northern islands belongs to the bilateral
relations between Russia and Japan. We hope that both sides will be able
to settle this dispute through friendly negotiations," the Chinese
diplomat said.
