Jalili: Tehran, Damascus ties vital for regional stability

Tehran, Aug 4, IRNA - Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Saeed Jalili said on Sunday that positive relations between Tehran and Damascus will have undeniable impacts on regional stability.

Jalili made the remarks in his meeting with Syrian President Bashar
al-Assad in Tehran on Sunday.

At the meeting, the two sides underlined that Tehran and Damascus are
determined to broaden all-out ties in various fields and called for
continued exchange of views between the two sides.

Ties between Iran and Syria are strategic which should be regarded as
model, he said.

The positive impact of such ties on regional peace and stability is
undeniable, he underlined.

The Syrian president, for his part, said ties between the two
countries are not limited to a specific period or topic and called the
need for expanding mutual cooperation at the regional and
international levels.

Syrian President left Tehran for Damascus on Sunday afternoon.

During his two-day visit, he called on the Supreme Leader of the
Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and held talks with his
Iranian counterpart on issues of mutual interests as well as regional
developments.
