Inglis no show at Broncos training

Star recruit Greg Inglis was a no show at Broncos pre-season training on Monday as
his battle to officially leave Melbourne dragged on.
Brisbane official Andrew Gee did his best to solve the mystery, telling AAP that
Inglis was in constant contact with the NRL club's physio team monitoring his rehab
following shoulder surgery last month.
"Because of what's going on with the Storm and all the legalities down there, Greg
doesn't feel comfortable training here at the moment," said Gee.
"That could change tomorrow or the next day, but at this point in time, that's how
it is."
Melbourne gave Inglis permission to train with the Broncos late last week.
But a strict condition was he could not do any interviews or appear in any
promotions for the club until he was given an official release by the Storm.
Brisbane have an agreement with their sponsors that requires all players to wear
their branded gear, even when training.
The Storm want Inglis to pay legal costs of a reported $100,000 stemming from the
successful defence of an assault charge last year.
Despite agreeing to terms with Brisbane almost 12 weeks ago, Inglis is still
contracted to Melbourne, who are worried about the legal bill's status under its
revised salary cap.
Inglis and his manager Allan Gainey have been locked in battle with the club and NRL
salary cap auditor Ian Schubert for weeks.
Brisbane coach Ivan Henjak said Inglis was "doing rehab" when asked why his gun
recruit was missing.
"To be honest, he's still got something to sort out," said Henjak.
"Until that gets done and while he's doing his rehab, he'll do that elsewhere.
"I'm sure it will get done in due course, it's not something we're overly concerned
about."
In his absence, the club's other big name signing, prop Ben Hannant, stepped in
front of the cameras declaring his intention to make a big impact for his old club.
"Greg's had a shoulder reco (reconstruction) so he definitely wouldn't have been
running today," said Hannant when asked about Inglis.
"He's welcome to the spotlight.
"He's a great player and he's going to be a massive asset to this side."
