Woosha warns young chargers to lift

West Coast coach John Worsfold has given his band of young players 12 months to
prove their worth as the club attempts to erase the memories of their failed 2010
AFL season.
The Eagles' first-to-seventh-year players commenced pre-season training on Monday,
with midfielders Chris Masten, Bradd Dalziell and Luke Shuey starring in two
punishing 2km time trials.
West Coast collected their first ever wooden spoon last season and Worsfold hinted
careers would be on the line if massive improvement wasn't displayed.
"A lot of them really need to stand up over the next 12 months to warrant extending
their contracts, but we're prepared to give them that time to see how they go,"
Worsfold said.
"They are well and truly aware of where they are at, and I've got no doubt two or
three are going to really stand up this year and really show the level that they are
going to take their game to.
"If they are doing that, that means someone's going to be left behind. That will pan
out over the course of this next season."
Worsfold said wingman Tim Houlihan, who was surprisingly de-listed by the Eagles
last month, was still a wanted man at West Coast.
"We'd still like to try and get him back on our list ... definitely as a rookie, if
not back on the senior list," Worsfold said.
"That depends on various things, but at this stage we'll try and re-rookie Tim."
Worsfold said Daniel Kerr, who missed most of last season with a hamstring injury,
was tracking along well and would be on full pre-season duties within a matter of
weeks.
