HANOI, October 31 (Itar-Tass) - Russian and Vietnamese presidents
Dmitry Medvedev and Nguyen Minh Triet discuss prospects for the
development of Russian-Vietnamese relations in Hanoi.
The meeting of the two leaders passes during the official visit by the
Russian president to Vietnam, which started on Sunday with laying wreaths
at the Memorial to Fallen Heroes and the Ho Shi Minh mausoleum.
The Russian head of state was welcomed by an orchestra which rendered
the anthems of the two countries. The presidents inspected the guard of
honour; then the Russian and Vietnamese leaders presented members of the
delegations to each other. Then, the guard of honour marched past the
heads of state.
Following the meeting ceremony, Medvedev and Nguyen Minh Triet went to
the presidential palace where they are now holding talks in a close
format. Later, the talks will continue in a broader format. Following the
talks, the sides will sign documents, and the heads of state will hold a
news conference.
