Iran, Kenyan parliament speakers ink MoU
Iran and Kenya on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding to boost parliamentary cooperation.
The MoU was inked by Iran's Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and his Kenyan counterpart Kenneth Marende in Tehran.
They reviewed international and regional issues, calling for boosting mutual cooperation.
On October 25, Iran and Kenya signed an agreement in the field of tourism by the head of Iran Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization Hamid Baqaei and the Kenyan Tourism Minister Najib Balala on the sidelines of the 89th Summit of UN World Tourism Council in Kish Island.
Facilitating issuance of visas, exchanging experience and organizing joint tours are major subjects underlined by the agreement.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said early October that Iran wants all-out expansion of cooperation with Kenya, in the economic sector in particular.
Receiving a copy of the credentials of new ambassador of Kenya to Tehran Rashed Ali, Mottaki said Iran and Kenya should ease visa issuance and further swap delegations, which is necessary for better understanding of the two nations.
He also called for commissioning of joint economic projects by the two sides.
Ali for his part hoped that during his ambassadorial mission, ground will be prepared for closer Iran-Kenya relations.
