YR 25,392 billion approved as 2009 budget of SFD

SANA'A, Aug. 04 (Saba)- In its meeting chaired by Prime Minister Ali
Mujawar, the Chairman of the Board of Social Fund for Development
(SFD), the executive directors approved YR 25,392 billion as 2009
budget of the fund.

The budget, which comes from the government and foreign resources,
is assigned for carrying out 460 projects across the country in
fields of education, roads, water and health, in addition to other
smaller ones in fields of environment, disabled, training,
institutional support, culture, developing smaller facilities,
integrative interference, agriculture and observation and
evaluation.

The SFD's board listened to clarifications from the executive
management on process of preparing the budget, regulations of
approving the projects and mechanisms of distributing them in
country provinces.

The management clarified that the projects were approved on the
basis of need, poverty indicators and populations' intensity, taking
into consideration the great projects which provide job
opportunities and reducing poverty.

Worth mentioning that the total projects of the fund, since it has
started activities in 1997 to 2008, have reached 8 thousand with the
total cost of YR I,441 trillion.
