RF, India to sign treaty on coop in combating illegal migration
NEW DELHI, October 29 (Itar-Tass) -- India and Russia intend to sign
before the end of the current year a memorandum on mutual understanding in
combating illegal migration. A corresponding agreement was reached during
the talks between the Russian Federal Migration Service and the consular
department of the Indian Foreign Ministry which ended here.
"On the basis of this memorandum, a full-format readmission agreement,
which will become an important step in solving the problem of violations
of migration legislation by citizens, will be signed later on," head of
the Russian delegation, deputy chief of the department for issues of
citizenship of the Russian Federal Migration Service Valentina Kazakova
said.
According to data of 2009, about 500 Indian citizens illegally stayed
in Russia, and, according to data of the consular department of the
Russian embassy in New Delhi, several dozens of violations of migration
legislation of this country were registered in India.
"We need to work out a common practice of treating illegal
migrants," Kazakova said.
