Iran-Syria underline consolidation of bilateral ties



Tehran, Aug 3, IRNA - Presidents of Iran and Syria underlined continuation and consolidation of bilateral ties.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his Syrian counterpart Bashar
al-Assad in their talks here Saturday expressed satisfaction with
expanding trend of bilateral relations.

In their talks, regional and international issues like situation in
Lebanon, Palestine, Iraq, the Zionist regime and Iran's nuclear issue
were discussed.

President Ahmadinejad called mutual ties good and progressive and
added suitable decisions had been made so far to strengthen bilateral
and regional ties and the two countries can cooperate with more
coordination.

Referring to the conspiracy of a number of countries to create
disunity between Iran and Syria, Ahmadinejad said, "These people are
making a mistake for sure, because Iran and Syria will always stay
together."
Concerning US and the Zionist regime situation in the region, the
president said, "They are in the worst situation and the public
opinion are against them."
He continued the US policy is facing with repeated failure and in the
near future they will be forced to leave Iraq.

The Zionist regime has also lost its Raison D'etre and it is not able
to perform the US and European policies in the region and naturally is
demolishing.

Concerning Iran's nuclear program, Ahmadinejad said, "Iranians will
never step back from their inalienable rights."
President al-Assad said consolidation and expansion of ties with Iran
is so important for Syria and added Syria is following seriously
strengthening and consolidating relations with Tehran.

Referring to the situation in Lebanon, the visiting president noted
exchanging Lebanese prisoners was a victory for the resistance and a
failure for the US and its allies in the region.

He added, "The Zionist regime with the US are still hatching plots in
the region, so we should be aware in this concern."
President al-Assad, by referring to the dissatisfaction of the
regional nations with the US and the Zionist regime policies said,
"The Zionist regime is not powerful and countries can achieve their
rights by resistance."
He concluded, "Upon international agreements every country, including
Iran, has the right to enrich uranium and construct nuclear power
plant."
