Listening to dissenting voices essential for national unity: politician

TEHRAN, Oct. 25 (MNA) – Asadollah Badamchian, the deputy head of the principlist Islamic Coalition Party, said if the government seeks to restore national unity, opposite voices should be also heard.

“We can listen to dissenting voices. If officials want to impose their views on people and don’t listen to (criticisms), the unity is undermined,” Badamchian told on Sunday.

He also pointed to the Supreme Leader’s recent remarks about the importance of national unity, saying, “Our faith in God and preservation of unity were the causes of the victory of the (Islamic) Revolution.”

He went on to say that the global arrogance has always tried to harm the unity between the Iranian nation and government, so all people and officials should be aware that the enemy seeks to take advantage of any minor disagreement to target national unity.

He added, “Unfortunately, some people shout the slogan of unity, but in practice do not keep to their word.”

Elsewhere in his remarks, Badamchian pointed to the Leader’s recent remarks about the enemy’s plot aimed at separating Islam from clerics and said, “Islam without clerics has no place in our country and the advocates of this idea have never achieved their goal which is the elimination of the clergy.”
