SIX KILLED, 10 MISSING IN MV MISHAP
Ternate, N Maluku, Indonesia, Aug 2 (ANTARA) - Six people were reportedly killed and 10 others went missing after MV Mole overturned in the waters of Sula Islands district in North Maluku province on Thursday evening.
The MV overturned while on its way from Waiipa to Taliabu after being hit by huge waves, a source at the Sula Islands port told Antara by phone on Saturday.
Forty-eight passengers escaped the accident.
Chief of the Sula Island district police Adjunct Chief Commissioner Rudi A Sudrajat said a search for the 10 missing passengers was hampered by huge waves.
There were 64 passengers on the manifest.
"Based on the preliminary report the MV overturned after being hit by huge waves. But we will continue to investigate the accident because we don't rule out the possibility it was caused by overload," he said.
