Chrissy Amphlett diagnosed with cancer

Chrissy Amphlett, the former lead singer of Australian band The Divinyls, has been
diagnosed with breast cancer.
Fairfax reported on Wednesday that the 50-year-old is awaiting treatment in New
York, where she currently lives with husband and one-time Divinyls drummer Charley
Drayton.
Amphlett was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis several years ago, a condition which
she said would make tackling the cancer more difficult.
"I can't have radiation and things like that. But I have the best people here," she
told the Sydney Morning Herald.
"But I have the best people here. And right now, the MS isn't even bothering me -
it's the least of my problems.
"But I'm strong and I will get over this."
Amphlett revealed that her sister is a breast cancer survivor and said she felt more
sorry for people suffering the disease alone than she did for herself.
The singer had recently been concentrating on her solo career, years after becoming
a poster girl of Aussie rock in the 1980s and `90s with The Divinyls.
The band became a household name thanks to their 1991 international smash I Touch
Myself, which went to number one in Australia.
Inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame in 2006, The Divinyls split up one year later.
