US Ambassador to Armenia: We hope that Matthew Bryza will be confirmed
Baku, October 19 (AzerTAc). In an interview to RFE/RL, US ambassador to Armenia Marie Yovanovitch spoke of meetings with Armenian diaspora representatives living in the US, Armenia-Turkey relations and the activity of the OSCE Minsk group co-chairs.
Asked about why the most recent statement by the Minsk Group co-chairs referred to the Minsk Group co-chairs referred to Stepanakert by its Azeri name Khankendi, the ambassador said “that's not a change, the co-chairs have referred to this town in that way before”.
Touching upon former top US negotiator on Nagorno-Karabakh Matthew Bryza`s appointment as an ambassador in Azerbaijan, Yovanovitch said “a matter for the US Senate”.
She added: “Matt Bryza enjoys the full confidence of the president and the secretary of state. He`s got great background for this post and so obviously we hope that he will be confirmed”.
