Iran always ready to resolve differences with West on N-program

Islamabad, Oct 20, IRNA – A Pakistani researcher on Tuesday said that Iran is always ready to resolve its differences with West over its peaceful nuclear program.
Talking to IRNA, Syed Qandil Abbas, Professor of International Relations in International Islamic University said that Iran, being the signatory of Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), can use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
He was of the view that the statement of Iranian Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi, saying that Iran is ready to discuss the issue of exchanging atomic fuel in upcoming talks with world powers, shows that how much Iran is sincere in acquiring the peaceful nuclear technology.
He said that keeping in view their political situation, Iranian leadership has tried to fulfill every demand of the West and the biggest development in the regard is the nuclear fuel swap deal.
“Iran is always ready to cooperate with international community on its peaceful nuclear program”, he added.
He regretted that the attitude of West against Iran is creating problems for Islamic Republic.
Syed Qandil Abbas was of the view that Iran does not want to give any impression to the West that it is not ready to cooperate with them on nuclear issue.
He said Iran is ready to resolve differences with West only through dialogue. The analyst added that nuclear program of Iran is transparent.
Syed Qandil Abbas, expressing his views, said that it is logical demand of Iranian leadership that the talks on Iran’s nuclear program should be based on justice.
He said that talks should be result orientated and Iran should be given some benefit. “Discriminatory attitude should not be adopted against Iran”, said the researcher.
He said that International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has failed so far to find any evidence against peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program. “Iranian nuclear program is not channeled towards making nuclear weapons”, he made it clear.
Iran blames the West, especially the six world powers involved in nuclear negotiations -- Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the US -- for snubbing diplomacy efforts to end the nuclear fuel row.
On May 17, Iran-Brazil-Turkey signed a nuclear fuel swap declaration, under which Tehran announced readiness to swap 1,200 kg of its low-enriched uranium on Turkish soil for fuel for a medical research reactor.
The UN Security Council cold-shouldered the declaration, imposing a fourth round of sanctions against Iranian financial and military sectors -- followed by US and EU unilateral measures./end
