Iran-Syria ink MoU on port and maritime cooperation

Tehran, Oct 19, IRNA – Iranian and Syrian officials inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the end of the 5th meeting of Iran-Syria Joint Port and Maritime Cooperation Committee here on Tuesday.

The MoU was inked by Emad Al-din Abdol Hai Maritime Deputy of the Syrian Transportation Ministry and Ata Sadr Iran's Deputy Minister of Roads and Transportation and Managing Director of Ports and Maritime Organization.

Referring to the two countries' commonalities and mutual ports potentials, Sadr called for fostering Iran-Syria trade ties.

Meanwhile, Abdol Hai, for his part, described the two countries' port and maritime cooperation as increasing, adding Iran and Syria mull expanding ties in the fields of maritime training, developing ports, trade transaction and commodities transit.

The 5th meeting of Iran-Syria Joint Port and Maritime Cooperation Committee opened in Tehran on October 17./end
