FILA chief praises Azeri wrestlers
Baku, October 19 (AzerTAc). President of the International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles (FILA) has hailed Azerbaijan`s successes in the sport.
Speaking to a ceremony to award the best wrestlers of the year in Baku, Raphael Martinetti, said Azerbaijan`s extraordinary efforts towards developing wrestling made it number one country in this area.
He said although he was invited to attend award-giving ceremonies in a number of countries he chose Azerbaijan, adding the country “is of particular importance to me”.
Martinetti said Azerbaijan was the best wrestling country in the past two years.
The FILA chief also praised the Azerbaijani government`s efforts to develop wrestling in the country.
“I thank President Ilham Aliyev for his support to sport,” he said.
