BEIJING, October 18 (Itar-Tass) - There are no unsolved problems
between Moscow and Beijing, Russian Federal Council speaker Sergei Mironov
said.
Mironov is currently in Beijing on an official visit.
"I don't see any problems that exist between our countries," the
Russian speaker said after a meeting with Chinese top legislator Wu
Bangguo on Monday.
Mironov stressed that both countries had common or close positions on
key international problems.
As an example the Russian legislator cited the problem of climate
change. China had its own stance on this issue, Mironov said, adding that
both parties succeeded in bringing their positions closer. He recalled
that China had not taken part in the Kyoto Protocol. But Beijing approved
the Copenhagen agreement, Mironov added.
"Until recently we have had different points of view to restrict
carbonic acid gas emissions. But now our positions coincide," he said.
Mironov also stressed that in 2008 Russia and China had solved the
border problem by reaching agreements on the border demarcation and
delimitation.
The Russian legislator also said Russian-Chinese relations had a big
future.
Mironov visited the graves of Soviet officers who assisted China in
the war with Japan. "The cherishing of heroes' memory is particularly
important on the year of the 65th anniversary of the victory over the
common enemy, Nazi and Japanese militarism," Mironov said.
"This visit takes place several weeks after the successful Chinese
tour of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev," Mironov said.
He recalled that the sides signed 17 documents during the visit.
"These documents lay down the foundation of strategic partnership and
accelerate economic cooperation through trade and joint projects," he said.
Mironov hopes that his visit will enhance parliamentary contacts, as
well.
Mironov arrived in China on a three-day official visit. Chongqing, a
megalopolis with over 30 residents in southwestern China, was the first
leg of his tour.
