ASTANA, October 18 (Itar-Tass) -- A supranational antimonopoly agency
will be established within the Customs Union between Russia, Belarus, and
Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan's top-ranking antimonopoly official said on Monday.
"Under agreements (between Customs Union member states) such an agency
is to be established in 2011," said Mazhit Yesenbayev, the head of
Kazakhstan's anti-competition agency.
According to Yesenbayev, it is planned that starting from 2011, this
agency will be authorized to deal with issues of unfair competition,
monopolism, and cartel agreements.
"In the course of further harmonization [of laws within the Customs
Union], the supranational agency will be authorized to deal with other
matters," he added.
