DIPLOMATIC CREDENTIALS PRESENTED

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan Mr. Jenbek Moldokanovich Kulubayev presented Monday his diplomatic credentials to Ts.Elbegdorj, the President of Mongolia.
At the meeting held after the ceremony, the President mentioned about historical and friendly ties between the two countries and pointed out that after an establishment of the diplomatic ties a legal basis has been formed to develop bilateral cooperation.
The State Head has congratulated Kyrgyzstan for choosing the way of democracy and for running first ever in its history parliamentary elections, and accepted the Kyrgyz side's request to share experiences.
The Ambassador Mr. Kulubayev was born in 1963. He had worked in the ministry of foreign affairs and in embassies in Malaysia and China as first, second secretaries, directors of various departments.
Mongolia and Kyrgyzstan established the diplomatic relations in April 22, 1992. They have signed some 30 documents such as treaty on friendly relations and cooperation and agreements on supporting investments, on exempting from double taxes, on air relations, on environment protection, on rendering legal assistance in civil and criminal cases, and on cooperation in international auto transportation and customs.
An honorary consulate of Mongolia was opened in 2009 in Bishkek city. For the time being, 35 Mongolian students have been studying in the “Manas” Kyrgyz-Turkey joint university.

The same day, the State Head Ts.Elbegdorj received a letter of credence from Mr. Jose Tadeu da Costa Sousa Soares, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Portuguese Republic. In conjunction with this, the President has received the ambassador.
The President has said Mongolia aims to expand the bilateral cooperation and to strengthen relations with European Union's (EU) countries along with developing good neighborhood ties with Russia and China. He has added that Mongolia adheres to a policy to develop active cooperation with Portugal, and expressed a gratitude to the Portuguese President for sending a letter with congratulation on issuing a capital punishment moratorium.
The Mongolia-Portugal diplomatic relations were established in July 26, 1974. During a visit of a Portugal foreign minister, paid to Mongolia in 2010, the sides established vital documents for the bilateral relations and cooperation.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand Mr. Piamsak Milintachinda has presented his diplomatic credentials to the Mongolian President Ts.Elbegdorj.
The President has mentioned about a visit of Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn paid to Mongolia in 2009, and underlined that this visit had contributed to the bilateral relations.
Ts.Elbegdorj said he wants the ambassador to actively work together with related ministries of Mongolia to expand the bilateral cooperation with contents of economics, trade and investments. “Mongolia also wants to develop collaboration with Thailand at regional arena,” added Mr. Elbegdorj.
Thailand had participated in meetings of donor countries for Mongolia, and rendered non-refundable aid to Mongolia totalling two million and 500 thousand Thai Baht (over USD 99,700), and granted herdsmen an assistance of USD 10 thousand. The Mongolian side gave Thailand a USD 10 thousand assistance due to deadly tsunami which took place in 2004.
The diplomatic relations were established between the two countries in March 5, 1974.
