Russian embassy in Thailand confirms death of Russian tourist.

BANGKOK, October 18 (Itar-Tass) -- Russia's embassy in Thailand on
Monday confirmed the death of a Russian tourist vacationing on the island
of Phuket.
"A fifty-year-old Russian tourist from the city of Tyumen died while
swimming in the Andaman Sea," Russia's consul Andrei Dvornikov told
Itar-Tass. "Something must have happened in the water, he was taken out of
the water and sent to hospital, but medics failed to save his life. The
cause of death will be established after autopsy."
"Now we are working with relevant establishments to have the body
brought to Tyumen the soonest possible," the Russian diplomat said.
However, he did not tell the name of the man, saying this information
"will only draw unwarranted attention to the relatives of the dead man."
The period from March to November is a low season in Phuket, when the
weather is unfriendly, with stormy winds, strong currents near the
coastline and lots of jellyfish.
