International Far Eastern forum of journalists opens in Khabarovsk

KHABAROVSK, October 18 (Itar-Tass) -- An international Far Eastern
forum of journalists opens here on Monday. The forum entitled "The Far
East. Discoveries of the 21st Century" will be held through October 19, a
spokesman for the forum's organizational committee told Itar-Tass.
According to the spokesman, participants in the forum will discuss
issues of informational backing of the Far East's and Baikal territory's
socio-economic development strategy till the year 2025, forming a positive
image of Russia's Far Eastern regions, and media involvement in
integration processes between Russia and Asia-Pacific countries.
The forum, organized by the Russian Union of Journalists and supported
by Russian president's envoy in the Far Eastern Federal District Viktor
Ishayev, will be attended by governors of Russian Far Eastern regions,
members of local legislatures, scientists, businessmen, representatives
from public organizations, and more than 300 journalists and heads of
media bodies from Russia and foreign countries.
The forum's program includes plenary meetings on Monday and panel
discussions in a number of workshops on Tuesday. The chairman of the
Russian Union of Journalists, Vsevolod Bogadnov, will hold a presentation
of the international journalist contest "The Far East. Discoveries of the
21st Century."
The forum will be crowned by a final resolution.
