GOLKAR GETS CAMPAIGN FUNDS FROM 24 MILLION MEMBERS- KALLA SAYS
Jakarta, Aug 2 (ANTARA)- Jusuf Kalla, general chairman of the Golkar party executive board said the party earns funds from the 24 million party members for a year-long campaign before the 2009 legislative general election.
"We have 24 million members and the campaign funds came from them," Jusuf Kalla said after performing Friday prayers at his office here.
Kalla, who is concurrently vice president, said his party will continue abiding by the law where the maximum individual contribution is only one billion rupiah. But that from company should not exceed three billion.
On the occasion, Kalla also underlined a statement made by state enterprises minister Sofyan Jalil, banning a contribution from state enterprises to political parties.
Despite the absence of minister Sofyan Jalil's statement, Golkar party will follow the regulation, because it is laid down in the law, Kalla said.
The party's chairman, however, did not elaborate on amount of the funds for the campaign.
