Tehran, October 17, IRNA -- Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar said on Saturday that the Islamic Republic of Iran and Iraq are keen on cooperation on campaign against drug trafficking as well as border security.

Najjar made the remarks in a press conference after his meeting with Iraqi Interior Minister Jawad al-Bolani.

Iran and Iraq are brothers and friendly nations willing to study avenues to develop security and economic cooperation, Najjar said.

He said that the two sides explored various grounds for cooperation including exchange of pilgrims and tourists between the two countries.

“We are to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Iraqi nation and government to support their stability and restoration of a democratic Iraq and are to spare no effort to help the Iraqi national unity government,” said the Iranian interior minister.

'It is expected that upon agreements signed between the two countries we would witness further expansion of cooperation on border issues as well as fight against drug-trafficking.'/end
