IRNA Chief: President's Lebanon visit opens new chapter in bilateral ties

Tehran, Oct 16, IRNA – IRNA Managing Director Ali-Akbar Javan-Fekr said Friday evening that a new chapter has been opened in Iran-Lebanon bilateral relations.
In an exclusive interview with ‘Jam-e Jam’ international TV network, the IRNA chief who is also presidential press advisor, said the region will witness the positive consequences of the recent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s visit to Lebanon.
President Ahmadinejad’s visit had a message to the Lebanese nation saying the Islamic Iran would defend and support the friendly country Lebanon against aggressions of the Zionist regime, he added.
The Islamic Republic also delivered a message to the Lebanese people stressing the need for their unity and solidarity, the IRNA chief noted.
All world countries have so far found out that the Islamic Republic is in the heart of all regional nations, he said, adding that the Iranian officials will face warm and enthusiastic welcome by all regional countries in any similar situation.
The trip had also carried this message to the regional states that the Islamic Republic would safeguard them against any ill-wishing attitudes of Tel Aviv and Washington, he stressed.
On agreements inked between the two sides, Javan-Fekr said 16 letters of understanding and agreements were signed by Iranian delegation and Lebanese officials in different economic, trade, technological, agricultural, health, environmental, educational, sports and energy fields.
