PRESIDENT RECEIVES IMF'S OFFICIALS

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj received Thursday Mr. Steven Barnett, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mongolia Mission Chief, and Mr. Parmeshwar Ramlogan, the Resident Representative of the IMF to Mongolia.
"The IMF considers that the Stand-By program, completed this October, has been implemented successfully," said Barnett. “We are very glad that we have cooperated with Mongolia's government, parliament and people. Mongolia has become the only country in Asia Pacific to fruifully realize the Stand-By program,” he has stressed adding decisive measures of the government and the Banks of Mongolia contributed to this realization in spite of the global financial and economic crisis.
In response, the State Head has said Mongolia thanks international financial organizations, including the IMF, for helping in hard times.
The President has underlined that the basis of a sustainable development is a policy of supporting the middle-class people. Mentioning that revenue from the mining must be sufficient for every person, Ts.Elbegdorj has emphasized that making investments to the educational and health sectors is a prior goal targeted at ensuring the sustainable development.
The the State Head and the IMF's official discussed views on a draft amendment to the law on budget.
