Gov’t supports expansion of private firms’ economic ties with Iraq

Ilam Governor’s Planning Deputy said here Monday government supports and backs up expansion of private sector firms’ economic activities with Iraq.


According to IRNA correspondent in Ilam, Heshmatollah Asgari added in a meeting with an Iraqi commercial delegation at the site of the Ilam Agricultural Capabilities Exhibition, “By supporting the private sector activities comprehensively the government has managed to create an appropriate atmosphere for expansion of the regional economic and commercial activities.”
He added, “The expansion of economic infrastructures, financial and spiritual support for the manufacturers, offering export promotion bonuses and appropriate facilities have been merely a part of the supporting measures applied by the government in recent years in dealing with the private sector.”
He reiterated, “Presently the atmosphere is quite ripe for the expansion of economic relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Iraq and maximum advantage of this opportunity should be taken.”
Ilam Governor’s Planning Deputy referred to the appropriate activities of the private sector in Ilam Province, adding, “Fortunately during the recent years due to the expansion of the infrastructures and the opening of the International Mehran Border precious steps in non-oil exports field have been taken.”
Asgari said, “The international departures from Mehran Border have provided an appropriate opportunity for the expansion of economic relations with Iraq and this privilege has led to increasing the hard currency income for the region.”
He emphasized, “The top management of this province welcomes any activity that would lead to the expansion of economic ties between Iran and Iraq.”
The head of Ilam Province Chamber of Commerce, too, said at the meeting, “Numerous plans have been devised for expansion of commercial ties between this province and its neighboring provinces in Iraq.”
Sha’ban Forootan reiterated, “Holding joint gatherings, signing cooperation pacts, joint investments of the Iranian and Iraqi merchants and sponsoring business tours between the two countries are among the measures thought about aimed at further expansion of bilateral business ties.”
He added, “Ilam Province has unique potentials for having economic relations with Iraq and these potentials are now blossoming.”
The head of Ilam Province Chamber of Commerce announcing that the Ilam Province can now become one of the country’s export poles, added, “The country’s private firms and state managers are seriously determined to increase Iran’s non-oil exports to Iraq through this province.”
Forootan said, “Ilam Province has high potentials in industrial, agricultural, technical and engineering services, oil and gas, and other economic fields, and can be the harbinger of a great social and economic evolution in the region.”
A twenty-member economic Iraqi economic delegation arrived in Ilam Province on Sunday to get acquainted with the province’s economic and commercial capabilities.
