Caspian forum to promote modernization in education.
VOLGOGRAD, October 13 (Itar-Tass) - The Astrakhan Region will become a
proving ground for the First Caspian international education forum that
opens in Astrakhan on Wednesday.
An official in the press service of the regional government has told
Itar-Tass that the Federal bill on Education in the Russian Federation
will be one of the main subjects of discussion at the forum.
On the Teachers Day, October 5, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev
assigned the Ministry of Education and Science to hold a public discussion
of the new bill on education. "We have gained a certain experience in
public discussion of bills," the President recalled, explaining that he
means the discussion of the bill on police, in particular. "Education is
no less important area than law enforcement," Medvedev believes.
Scientists, post-graduates, faculty members and students will be able
to discuss the Education Bill at the Astrakhan forum. The First Caspian
Education Forum, which will continue until October 15, is dedicated to the
modernization of professional education in Russia. Problems connected with
prospects for professional education, its integration with science,
business and production will be discussed at the forum.
Participants in the forum are to get acquainted with the presentation
of the Astrakhan version of the national "Our New School" education
initiative. Teachers at the Astrakhan State University, which has joined
the network of educational institutions, established by the Shanghai
Cooperation Organization University -- the founder and coordinator of
cooperation -- will also take the floor.
The forum will be held with an active participation of Astrakhan State
Technical University -- the founder and coordinator of the Caspian
Association of State Universities. The Astrakhan-based construction
engineering institute is to introduce the model of an integrated system of
primary, secondary, and higher professional education.
Officials at the regional Ministry of Education expect that the forum
will give a fresh impetus to the innovations-based development of the
system of education and science, and provide fine opportunities for the
sharing of experience and development of cooperation in the field of
education.
