MOSCOW, October 12 (Itar-Tass) -- Russia is ready to cooperate with
Kyrgyzstan's new government, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said
on Tuesday.
"As soon as the new Kyrgyz government is formed, we are ready to
cooperate and develop the most close relations with it based on what has
already been gained and on the agreements Kyrgyzstan's interim government
has principally reiterated," he said.
"We think there were no serious destabilizing moments during the
elections," he went on. "We are waiting for official reports from
observers who monitored the elections." In his words, first reports say
the elections were valid and the national parliament is facing an uneasy
task of forming a coalition. "Neither of the five parties, which,
according to preliminary turnout, have won parliamentary seats, has a
majority vote to form a government," Lavrov noted.
"We have already voiced our concerns that a swift transition to the
parliamentary rule might put obstacles on the way of stable development of
the Kyrgyz state," he said. "We would welcome if Kyrgyzstan manages to
avoid complications."
