VLADIVOSTOK, October 11 (Itar-Tass) - The 200th batch of liquefied
natural gas produced at Russia's first LNG plant in Sakhalin's southern
port of Prigorodnoye was shipped to Tokyo Electric, the biggest consumer
of Sakhalin's fuel, the press service of Sakhalin Energy, the operator of
Sakhalin-2 oil and gas development project, said on Monday.
"The shipment of the 200th batch of liquefied natural gas is eloquent
evidence of the fact that our comprehensive production chain - from
maritime platforms on Sakhalin's north to mooring systems in the south -
works reliably and safely," Sakhalin Energy Chief Executive Director
Andrei Galayev said.
The LNG plant was launched in February 2009. Its designed capacity is
9.6 million tonnes a year, which is an equivalent to 5 percent of the
global LNG production. Since the plant's launch Sakhalin Energy shipped
around 13 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas, over 60 percent was
supplied to Japan. Sakhalin's gas was also shipped to South Korea, India,
Kuwait, China and Taiwan.
