BEIJING, October 11 (Itar-Tass) -- Agreements on economic cooperation
worth 3.5 billion dollars were signed at the Beijing House of People's
Assemblies on Monday according to the results of talks between President
Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus and Chinese President Hu Jintao. The
Belarussian president is staying in China on a three-day working visit.
Among the signed documents are eight contracts and three credit
agreements, as well as two frame agreements on cooperation in the field of
energy, road-transport infrastructure and construction. The Chinese side
credits the project for development of the transport system of Minsk and
electrification of railways in the Gomel and Mogilev regions. China will
provide a batch of electric locomotives. Besides, an industrial park will
be created with the participation of the Chinese side.
Other projects are connected with the construction of a
cellulose-making factory and enterprises of industrial house-building.
China will render aid in erecting two electric power stations and build a
Pekin (Bejing) hotel in Minsk.
China is one of the most important foreign trade partners of Belarus.
In 2009, China ranked fifth among them. Over seven months of the current
year, bilateral trade turnover exceeded one billion dollars. Potassium
fertilizers, open pit dump-trucks and spare parts for them, electronic
integral diagrams and chemical products are the main items of Belarus'
export to China, and equipment, materials for export productions and
consumers' goods are the main items of Belarus import from it.
