Lions' Sherman expected to join Bulldogs

The Western Bulldogs appear to have capped a successful AFL trade week by completing
the Justin Sherman deal.
The Brisbane midfielder's manager was confident on Sunday that the two clubs would
sign off on the trade early on Monday morning, well before the 2pm (AEDT) deadline.
Sydney made a big play for Sherman and could offer Brisbane a higher draft pick for
the trade, but he was adamant that he would either go to the Bulldogs or stay with
the Lions.
"He's happy, obviously it's gone on for a week, but in the end he really wanted to
get to the Dogs and it's good that we've got an agreement," Sherman's agent Liam
Pickering told Trade Week Radio.
The Bulldogs started trade week last Tuesday by securing highly-rated teenagers
Mitch Wallis and Tom Liberatore through the father-son rule.
They have also traded for Geelong speedster Nathan Dkjerrkura and Sydney utility
Patrick Veszpremi.
In exchange for Sherman, the Lions would gain the compensation draft pick that the
`Dogs received for losing defender Jarrod Harbrow to Gold Coast.
Pickering said there was "an in-principle agreement" on the trade.
But regardless of the Sherman deal being completed, the Bulldogs will still face
some last-minute negotiations on Monday.
Talks have stalled with Hawthorn, who are keen to recruit Bulldogs forward Josh Hill.
As always, there will be plenty of activity until 2pm on Monday as clubs try to
engineer last-minute agreements.
In other developments:
- Fremantle could lose Chris Tarrant to Collingwood through the national draft for
nothing, with the Magpies not budging on their offer of pick No.55.
Tarrant has warned he will retire if he goes into the draft and another club names him.
Collingwood recruited premiership midfielder Luke Ball through the draft last year
after there was no trade deal with St Kilda.
- Port Adelaide might try a third-party deal to recruit Andrew Walker to Carlton and
trade Daniel Motlop to another club.
Salary cap pressure means they must trade Motlop to bring in Walker.
- Richmond have traded Andrew Collins to Carlton in a straight swap for Shaun Grigg.
