Sunni-Shia Ulema welcome Ahmadinejad's visit to Lebanon

Beirut, Oct 10, IRNA – Lebanese Sunni and Shia Ulema said on Saturday that given Iran’s support for Lebanon and the country's need to a friendly and brotherly country like Iran in such a sensitive period of time, President Ahmadinejad's visit to Lebanon is highly wecome.

Leader of Friday prayers of Seida city Sheikh Nablusi in his speech here on Saturday said that Ahmadinejad's visit to Lebanon would bring respect to Lebanon's sovereignty, strengthen Lebanon in fight against security and political challenges under threats of the Zionist regime and expand its economic cooperation with Iran.

Nablusi added that the historical visit would support security and national unity of Lebanon in fight against those who want to demolish this country's security through religious and tribal sedition or through the Zionist regime threats.

Head of Lebanese Religious Ulema Assembly Allamah Seyed Ahmed Shouqi-el-Amin also in his remarks here concerning Ahmadinejad's visit to Lebanon said, 'President Ahmadinejad's visit to Lebanon in the sensitive situation would be an important and historical visit.'

He added that Lebanese government and nation would never forget Iran’s full support for Lebanon during 33-day war in the year of 2006, because Iran, with its support for resistance against the Zionist regime, has been a partner in the historical victory.

He asked all Lebanese to support President Ahmadinejad's visit to Lebanon.

Beirut Friday Prayer Leader Seyed Ali Fazlollah said that he recommends to those who are worried about Ahmadinejad's trip to Lebanon that they consider the issue with open eyes without any hostile religious and tribal feelings.

A well-known Lebanese Sunni Alem Sheikh Maher Hamoud also said that Ahmadinejad is not an ordinary president; he has revived a new spirit in the Islamic revolution and has reminded the glorious slogans of the early time of the Islamic revolution to all Arab and Islamic countries.

He added, 'We all know about the importance and value of the visit and thanks God that some conservatives who did not clearly approve of Iran’s policies and do not support the resistance, now condemn the US and the Zionist regime protest against the visit, because it not the west's business Lebanon would welcome who?'/end
