FNJ asks govt to punish maoists involved in scribe's killing

Kathmandu, July 30 (PTI) - The Federation of Nepalese Journalists (F.N.J.) has asked the government to punish those maoists involved in the abduction and killing of a journalistfour years ago.

Dekendra Thapa was abducted by local Maoist cadres inDailekh in western Nepal on August 10, 2004.

F.N.J. also sought the Maoist leadership to support the government in taking action against its cadres who wereinvolved in killing of Thapa.

The Federation claimed that a team of forensic experts have confirmed that the body exhumed from western Nepal onJune 25 was of journalist Thapa.

The F.N.J. made the report public after National Human Rights Commission certified Tuesday that the body was thatof Thapa.

F.N.J. has asked the government to file a murder caseagainst persons involved in the killing of Thapa.

In a statement, F.N.J. said that over the past 45 days 40 incidents related to attacks on journalists were recorded. PTI
