Russian mercenary found among militants killed in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, October 8 (Itar-Tass) -- Five militants were killed in the
clashes with the governmental forces in the eastern Tajik Rasht Region. A
Russian mercenary was found among the killed militants, the headquarters
of the Tajik Interior Ministry told Itar-Tass on Friday. The Russian
national passport issued in a district of the Moscow Region was found on
the killed mercenary.
Local residents did not recognize their fellow highlanders among the
killed militants, a source in the Interior Ministry said. A local elder
noted that all of them are aliens. The Tajik authorities have already
stated in public that there are many foreign mercenaries from Pakistan,
Afghanistan and Chechnya among militants.
