PRESIDENT GETS AU FAIT WITH "OUTOTEC"

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ Accompanied by officials, the President Ts.Elbegdorj has got acquainted with activities of Finland's Outotec, a leading global provider of process solutions, technologies and services for the mining and metallurgical industries.
Based on its a long-year experiences, know-how and technology, the Outotec could create various technologies accorded to the sustainable development principles, which save energy and are suitable for employing at large factories.
The vice president of Market Development of Outotec Mr. Hannu Hakakari has noted that their company is proud of its comprehensive technological solution for processing almost every kind of mining product such as iron ore, copper, zinc, ferroalloys, coal, and uranium.
The company has branches located in 21 countries, and sells technologies costing over USD one billion a year around the world. Some 80 per cent of the technologies have been rated as the best existing, economically viable techniques with regard to the environment by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. In addition to it, the company's research and scientific cost near 20 million Euros a year, with over 4 500 outstanding technological licenses in their possession.
The Outotec company has some experiences in cooperating with Mongolia's "Erdenet" Mining Corporation, and has successfully completed a technological experiment to build a copper mill for the "Erdenet" MC's output. Moreover, the Outotec's technology is considered to be one of the main possible solutions for Oyu Tolgoi copper, and thus the representatives of the company have stated that they have resolved the issue of toxic sulfuric acid, main drawback of copper mill operations.
The sides have underlined that energy saving and appropriate usage of water is the main technological criteria for modern mining industry.
