TS.ELBEGDORJ VISITS NIB


Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The State Head of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj has visited the Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) located in Helsinki city, Finland.
The NIB is an international financial institution which was established in 1975 by five Scandinavian countries--Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. In 2005, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania became members of the NIB. Despite any membership, the NIP grants loans to all countries, and acquires the funds for its lending by borrowing on the international capital markets.
The senior vice president of the NIB Gunnar Okk has underlined that the NIB is the international financial institution that runs activities in environmental sphere only. The NIB gives loans through four basic directions--environment, energy, infrastructure and technology.
Mr. Elbegdorj has put forward his proposal on realizing a project to reduce air pollution in Ulaanbaatar city in frames of the "Cleere" program of loans. Then, the NIB has said it is possible to finance capital for implementing the movement named "National Day of Planting Trees" initiated by the President.
