PRESIDENT RECEIVES PARLIAMENT SPEAKER OF FINLAND
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ Finland's parliamentary Speaker, Mr. Sauli Niinisto has been received by Ts.Elbegdorj, the President of Mongolia who is paying official visit to the country.
Beginning the meeting, Mr. Niinisto has said their parliament is ready to give a comprehensive support to Mongolia in order to develop the Mongolia-Finland relations in all spheres.
In response, the President has emphasized an importance of the inter-parliamentary ties for the bilateral relations, and spoke about an opportunity to set up a group of Mongolia at Finland's parliament.
Women MPs who were present at the meeting underlined that a participation of women in politics is a matter that needs more time.
Finland became the very first country in 1906 in the world to allow women to take part in elections and to be elected. Today, this country is a leader not only in Europe but also in the world by the participation of its women in decision making level. Some 40 per cent of the Finnish parliamentarians are women, 12 governmental members out of 19 ones are women as well.
