Thai AirAsia CEO sees rosy outlook for airline business
BANGKOK, Oct 8 - Thailand's airline business and travel industry in the last quarter this year is expected to show signs of positive growth given no recurrence of violence and bombings, budget airline Thai AirAsia chief executive officer Tassapon Bijleveld said.
Mr Tassapon said he believed the airline business in the last quarter and early next year will be fierce and highly competitive. All airlines will launch their campaigns to stimulate market spending, which he said is a good thing for competition.
According to the no-frills airline executive, all budget carriers can increase the number of their passengers, for he believed there is a high market demand for low-cost flights.
Mr Tassapon said advance flight bookings for Thai AirAsia accounted for 81 per cent in the last quarter as the average ratio of passengers per flight.
The airline has expanded its fleet to 19 aircraft to serve new routes, especially in the Asian region. In mid-November, Thai AirAsia will launch Bangkok-New Delhi and Phuket-Bali routes.
It is expected that more than 6 million passengers will have opted for the services of this airline by the end of this year.
In Thailand, Thai AirAsia hold abouts 60 per cent of the market share among customers preferring budget airlines. (MCOT online news)
