Over 70 projects to be discussed at RF-Finnish forum
HAEMEENLINNA (Finland), October 6 (Itar-Tass) - Over 70 joint projects
in various fields are to be presented at the three-day 11th Russo-Finnish
cultural forum that opens in this Finnish city on Wednesday.
Wednesday's plenary meeting of the conference will be attended by the
Ministers of Culture of the Russian Federation and Finland, Alexander
Avdeyev and Stephan Vallin, and cultural figures of the two countries.
More than 300 participants in the forum are to discuss cooperation on
practically all aspects of contemporary culture.
An official at the forum organizing committee has told Itar-Tass, "The
theme of the forum is 'Art Education and the Development of the Creative
Industry'. Its main task is to create a basis for the development of
regular contacts between the leaders of cultural organisations and culture
people".
The forum has been organised by the Finnish Ministry of Education, the
Finland-Russia Society, the city of Haemeenlinna, the Russian Ministry of
Culture, and by the Veliky Novgorod committee on culture, cinematography
and tourism.
Russo-FInnish cultural forums have been held since 2000, alternately
in each country. During their work in this format, 622 partnership
projects were presented and discussed, with many of them being
successfully implemented while the implementation of other ones is being
continued.
The organising committtee official pointed out, "The forums resulted
in art and photo exhibitions, theatre guest tours and productions,
concerts, master classes, seminars and school programmes, youth camps and
archeological expeditions, joint Internet portals and newspapers,
programmes for cultural and military tourism, and many other projects".
The discussion of this year's projects will involve representatives
of Russian and Finnish youth societies, art and theatre studioes,
universities, museums, music and dance collectives, photo clubs,
children's schools of art, and folk art centers.
The programme of the forum also includes thematic meetings of
participants for them to discuss matters relating to creative activity
and the development of cooperation. A seminar on cooperation between
Finland and Russia in librarianship is to be held on October 7.
