China supports RF seeking to pool int'l efforts in terror fight.
SOCHI, October 6 (Itar-Tass) -- China supports an initiative put
forward by the Russian Security Council seeking to pool the efforts of the world community to combat new threats, Chinese Minister of Public Security Meng Jianzhu said on Wednesday.
"We praise this highly and are convinced that the current conference
in Sochi will contribute to pooling the efforts to combat new challenges
and threats," said Meng, who is participating in the ongoing Sochi
international meeting of high security officials. According to him,
simultaneously with the forming of a multi-polar world and economic
globalization "the so-called non-traditional security threats are
looming." "International terrorism is rampaging actively. Various
terrorist organizations engage in conspiracies, unite and cooperate with
each other," the minister of public security noted.
"The illegal migration is acquiring a group, international and
intellectual nature," Meng noted. The illegal migration is closely
interrelated with drug trafficking, smuggling and money laundering "that
undermines normal trips of people in some countries."
"The drug trafficking-related violence is growing," the minister
added. He paid close attention to the need to combat cyber-crime. "This is
swindling, stealing, gambling and pornography through the Internet," Meng
pointed out.
A fairer and more rational political and economic order should be
primarily established to counteract efficiently these challenges and
threats. "Social justice processes should be promoted further," the
Chinese high-ranking official said.
The Sochi meeting is the first forum in international practice held in
such a format at Russia's initiative. Secretary of the Russian Security
Council Nikolai Patrushev said in his speech at the forum opening on
October 5 that Russia is concerned over the intentions of international
terrorist groups to get access to mass destruction weapons - chemical,
bacteriological, radioactive materials and biological formulas, and over
other challenges and threats to international stability. Russia is ready
to work with all countries and organizations to ensure stronger security,
Patrushev underlined.
