Protest rally held in Kyrgyz capital.
BISHKEK, October 6 (Itar-Tass) --A rally began in the Kyrgyz capital outside the building of the national parliament, which houses on Wednesday the presidential administration and the Kyrgyz government.
Participants in
the protest action are demanding that the Ata Zhurt Party (Fatherland
Party) be removed from the parliamentary electoral race.
The protest event was organised on the initiative of the Meken
Sheyitteri public association, which encompasses the relatives and friends
of the people, who died during the April 7 developments in the central
square of the country. On April 7 fire for effect was opened at
participants in the opposition demonstration on the order of the
authorities. As a result of it, 86 people died and several hundred were
injured. Nevertheless, the government building, and later the whole of the
republic, was taken under control of the opposition leaders.
"Several days ago Kamchybek Tashiyev, one of the leaders of the Ata
Zhurt Party, said at a meeting with the electors that their party had
failed to keep Bakiyev in office, but intended to bring him back to the
country," one of the participants in the rally told Itar-Tass. According
to her information, the protesters - some 100 people - are demanding that
the authorities should not permit Ata Zhurt to run for parliament and
should call to account all those, who are to blame for the shooting at
peaceful civilians. "Not a single official or an army officer has been
taken to court so far for the murder of our sons and brothers. We demand
that the murderers be found and punished," participants in the rally say.
The Kyrgyz authorities put on the international wanted list
ex-President Kurmanbek Bakiyev, his two sons, his brother Zhanysh Bakiyev,
who headed the Guard Service, ex-Prime Minister Daniyar Usenov and several
more persons on suspicion of mass especially cruel murder of people.
According to official reports, 29 political parties will vie for 120
seats in parliament at the parliamentary elections, due to be held in
Kyrgyzstan on October 10. Kyrgyz political scientists believe that too
many senior officials and their relatives, who were on public service
during Bakiyev's presidency, are on the lists of Ata Zhurt Party.
