TS.ELBEGDORJ EXPRESSES HIS POSITION

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ Running under an ideology that economic development, social policy and protection of environment are the major basis of ensuring sustainable development, the "Sustainable development" sub-meeting has been held in frames of the 8th ASEM Summit in Brussels, Belgium. The President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj has advanced his position at the meeting on some matters.
"...I am very confident that Mongolia can develop an effective cooperation in frames of the ASEM. Ideology and importance of the Beijing Declaration on sustainable development, which is outcome of the 7th ASEM Summit, still exits," stressed Mr. Elbegdorj at the sub-meeting.
The President has expressed his opinions on the three basic ideologies of the sustainable development. He has mentioned that the financial crisis that took place in Asia in 1997 and 1998 was a signal of 2009 global financial and economic crisis. "If we had been prepared enough we could have overcome this crisis with less damages," he added, and criticized that many governments had tried to regulate economics by force in a way of taking economic sanctions to gain an advantage from the financial crisis.
The President has noted that the middle-class spur any development, and put forward a proposal on running a correct policy to ensure a sustainable development for the middle class.
