PRIME MINISTER RECEIVES JORDAN'S PRINCE
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ Mongolia's Prime Minister S.Batbold received Mr. Hussein bin Al Abdullah, the Crown Prince of Jordan's King Abdullah II and a special envoy of the president of the Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, Production and Transfer of Anti-Personnel Mines and on their Destruction (Ottawa Treaty) on October 5.
The Premier has underlined that Mongolia had proved its willingness to join the Ottawa Treaty during the 65th Session of the UN General Assembly and his visit to Canada. "Collaboration and friendly bilateral cooperations between our countries have been developing successfully since the year 1981 when diplomatic ties relationship was established, besides, the two countries have been cooperating and supporting each other in frames of the UN and international organizations," he went on.
Mr. Batbold thanked the Government of Jordan for supporting Mongolia in advancing its name to the election of United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) 2010-2011.
The Crown Prince congratulated the Premier for his fruitful official visit to Canada and underlined that Kingdom of Jordan and led by him fund want to collaborate with Mongolia in all sectors. Then he highly spoke Mongolia's desire to create a world without mines and said that he fully supports Mongolia in joining the Ottawa Treaty.
Present at the meeting were Kerry Brinkert, a Director of the Anti- Personnel Mine Ban Convention Implementation Support Unit (ISU), Gregory Goldhawk, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Mongolia, D.Tsogtbaatar, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and others.
