Lebanese Speaker: Iran is a friendly country

Beirut, Oct 6, IRNA – Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri referred to the Islamic Republic of Iran as a friendly country supporting Lebanon, a Lebanese daily wrote on Wednesday.
In an interview with the daily as-Safir, he said since Iran’s stands are in line with those of the Lebanese resistance and national solidarity, he would propose that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s schedule during his upcoming visit to Lebanon be expanded.
President Ahmadinejad’s visit will take place at the official invitation of the Lebanese president.
According to the sources, Lebanese solidarity, defending the rights of the Lebanese nation against the Zionist threats and support for the resistance movement of the Lebanese people are among the priorities of the Iranian government, the daily wrote.
The Islamic Republic of Iran is expected to help equip the Lebanese Army and boost its oil and energy cooperation with the country, as-Safir noted.
