NU CHAIRMAN: ICIS RESULTS NOT TOO KEEN IN CONFLICT SETTLEMENT
Jakarta, July 31 (ANTARA) - The result of the ICIS (International Conference of Islamic Scholars) will not settle conflicts in the world, Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Chairman Hasyim Muzadi who is also ICIS secretary general said here Thursday.
"I wish, after every moslem in the world is able to improve themselves, we can understand about the roots of conflicts in the world. The mapping on the roots of the conflicts made in the conference. We are working on a formula or a recommendation for resolutions on conflict settlement," he said.
After working on the mapping and peace settlement, in a plenary meeting today (Thursday), he said, adding that everything would be legitimate as a recommendation for countries where conflicts were taking place.
Hasyim also said the important thing in the current ICIS was that all the participants shared the same vision. "So that we can view a problem objectively, not based on interest," he said.
He said the Islamic world gave priority to cultural, awareness and religious approaches.
