St Pete conference focuses on expansion of RF-S Korean coop

ST. PETERSBURG, October 4 (Itar-Tass) - Participants in a two-day
conference have discussed measures to expand cooperation between Russia
and the Republic of Korea.
Scientists, politicians, diplomats and public figures gathered in St.
Petersburg on Monday. The conference is organised by the Centre for Global
Politics and Economy and St. Petersburg State University within the events
marking the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations
between the USSR and the Republic of Korea.
The purpose of the conference is to study the state of Russian-Korean
cooperation and prospects for their strategic partnership.
According to experts, now it is necessary to expand relations in the
economy, science and culture. Experts believe that both societies should
perceive Russia and the Republic of Korea as reliable partners. The
efforts should be joined to ensure a lasting peace on the Korean
Peninsula, they say.
According to the participants in the conference, the forum serves a
good base for closer Russian-Korean contacts and the implementation of
joint projects.
