High tide forces closure of Pacific Hwy
High tide has forced the closure of the Pacific Highway on the state's mid-north
coast, with police warning motorists to delay their journey.
The road is shut in both directions at Corindi Beach, north of Coffs Harbour, due to
high tide at Blackadder Creek which isn't expected to subside for at least two
hours.
The southbound traffic queue is already stretching 15 kilometres and the northbound
queue four kilometres, the Roads and Traffic Authority says.
There is no alternative route, and police are advising people to avoid travelling or
to stay put in Coffs Harbour or Grafton until the all-clear is given.
The highway is likely to reopen about 9pm (AEDT).
